Trauma can affect how you feel about yourself, your relationships, and your sense of safety in the world. I offer a warm, peaceful space — beside a Cornish stream — where you can begin to feel more grounded, regulated, and able to move forward.
"I understand that starting trauma therapy can feel daunting, and that trust and safety take time to build. My approach is compassionate, relational, and non-judgemental — I aim to create a space where you feel able to go at your own pace."
Lisa Hastings · Integrative Therapist & EMDR Practitioner
My name is Lisa. I am a professionally trained Integrative Therapist with over 10 years' experience and a qualified EMDR practitioner specialising in trauma therapy. I came to this work through my own experience as a client — witnessing first-hand the positive impact that a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship can have.
I work with adults on a one-to-one basis, offering a compassionate, relational, and non-judgemental space. My approach is integrative — drawing on multiple therapeutic traditions including EMDR — because I believe each person is unique, and what helps one may not help another.
I practise privately in a relaxed, peaceful rural setting and am also an associate counsellor with CLEAR Emotional Trauma & Therapy Specialists in Cornwall. I have a strong interest in neurobiology, particularly research highlighting the close connection between mind and body, and I weave those insights into my work where they feel helpful.
Counselling is most effective when you feel truly at ease. My practice is set in a beautiful rural location on the edge of Truro — where the sounds of water and birdsong replace the noise of daily life before you've even sat down.
Many clients find that arriving somewhere peaceful — surrounded by trees, a stream nearby — shifts something before the session even begins. Nature holds a gentle power, and this setting is a quiet gift I'm glad to offer.
Sessions are available in-person at this rural location, or online via Zoom, WhatsApp, or FaceTime, so the benefits of working with me are accessible wherever you are.
I draw on several therapeutic traditions, choosing what best serves you at each step. You are the expert on your own life — my role is to help you access that wisdom.
At the heart of everything is a belief in your inherent capacity for growth. I offer unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine presence — creating the conditions in which change becomes possible.
Understanding how our past shapes our present is often key to breaking old patterns. I gently explore early experiences and how they influence the way you feel, relate, and see yourself today.
When it's useful, I draw on cognitive-behavioural approaches to help you understand and gently challenge the thinking patterns that may be keeping you stuck or causing distress.
Questions of meaning, purpose, identity, and belonging matter deeply. Together we can explore what it means to be fully yourself — and what kind of life you truly want to live.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapy that helps process distressing or traumatic experiences. As a qualified EMDR practitioner, I use this approach to help you work through trauma at a pace that feels safe.
Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the greatest predictor of positive outcomes. I invest wholeheartedly in building trust, safety, and genuine connection with you.
I have broad experience working with adults across a wide range of concerns. Whatever you're carrying, I offer a space where you can set it down and begin to make sense of it — without fear of judgement.
Taking the first step is often the hardest. Here's what happens when you reach out.
You get in touch by email or phone — there's no pressure and no obligation. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can talk briefly about what's brought you here and whether we feel like a good fit. Everything is completely confidential.
Our first meeting is a chance to get to know each other. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We'll talk about what you're hoping for and whether we feel like a good fit — there's no commitment required.
If we decide to work together, we'll meet regularly — usually weekly — at a pace that feels right for you. Counselling sessions last 60 minutes; EMDR sessions are available at 60, 75, or 90 minutes. You won't be rushed; meaningful change takes time and that's entirely okay.
There's no fixed end point. Some people find what they need in a handful of sessions; others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly review how things feel and you're always in control of when we close.
Reaching out takes courage. However you're feeling right now — uncertain, overwhelmed, or perhaps just quietly curious — I'm glad you're here. There's no pressure and no obligation.
Send me a message and I'll reply within 48 hours, or call me on 07912 746 334 for a free 15-minute consultation. Everything you share is completely confidential.
